I'm hesitating between 3 and 4 stars here. I like the book, it's well written, the story is sound, the world building is advanced, but it didn't quite grip me enough for four stars. Almost. My favourite part of this book is the characters - they are both awesome. From their appearance in The Iron Duke I wouldn't have thought that they could carry an entire book by themselves, but sure enough - they can. What is amazing is that they are both brutally honest, and this book has no inkling of that tiresome "oh I like him/her but does he/she like me back? *pout*", there's no damsel in distress in need of saving, no blushing virgin, no nothing that annoys me in many other books.
