First Against the Wall - Manna Francis Aaaaand we're back. Book 4 and 5 were kind of weak, especially when compared to this, which is just brilliant. This has everything I missed in some of the previous books: humour, a solid story that never gets boring for even one page, the structure of a book instead of separate short stories, and Toreth at his absolute best/worst. The problem is that Manna Francis and Sonny Hassell & Ais are ruining other books for me. Everything else seems bland, boring, poorly written...

What Francis excels at is not explicitly stating everything all the time. So many authors seem to feel the need to explain every little thing about their protagonists, every little action or thought, but Francis lets them remain partly unspoken and stuff just magically comes across anyway. There's also the problem of getting stuck on repeat. With 6 books featuring the same limited cast, it could get repetitive. With this book, it sure as hell does not. Is there only one book left in the series now? :S :S :S
